YOGA4MSD

Marjory Stoneman Douglas has a wonderful health and fitness program which includes a popular yoga class.  Yoga works to relieve tension, quiet the mind and is a successful tool used for healing.  This program is run by the most giving person/teacher, Amy Kleinman Kenny, who has been sharing her gift and her strength with the MSD Students to help them find a sense of peace.  The school needs her program now more than ever to continue teaching love, meditation and the mindfulness to continue working on making a change for the world.

With over 300 students in this program,  yoga quickly became a very popular physical education class.  Prior to the tragedy, plans were put in place and an area of the school was reserved to created an outdoor yoga studio and another for a meditation space.  Funds and/or donations are needed for the flooring and shading of this area.  This will be an incredible space for both students and teachers to help in the healing process and for the daily stresses of not just high school life, but to have with them always.
Update: We have our flooring but still working on shading and muraling of this area.

We are working diligently with the district to help bring Yoga into every school. Amy is currently offering yoga classes to students, faculty, victims and their families, and of course the amazing community.
We are working to get students certified to become instructors. We are working on sending about 20 MSD students on a yoga retreat this summer in Costa Rica.  The cost is $650, please consider sponsoring a student.  This is a great idea for a studio.

Yoga is what we know works.

BRANCHES OF BRAVERY

“Branches of Bravery”, an inspirational non-profit organization, was influenced by the tragedy that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018. Following within the footsteps of our founder, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, our mission is to continue her legacy of appreciating life, the environment, and the interaction between the two by beautifying our surroundings to bring light to communities even in the darkest of times. In doing so, our trees and branches will bring life to areas where life was lost, in order to honor our school as not a place of tragedy but as a place of new beginnings and change. One seed is the source of a flourishing garden, creating an abundance of roots of courage, blossoms of love, and branches of bravery. It is our goal to find a tree that embodies the inspiration, strength, and bravery that our organization encompasses. Our immediate mission is to plant seventeen trees in front of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in honor of the seventeen lives that were lost. In addition, funds will be allocated towards building a beautiful reflection garden in the community of Parkland. In the future, “Branches of Bravery” will donate trees across various communities in need to inspire them to branch out and stay rooted in times of tragedy. Furthermore, we hope to also provide specialized relief funds to communities across the world to foster the positive change they wish to see in the world-whether it is through educational programs, inspirational speakers, or material supplies to rebuild. The trees planted across different communities will establish a common ground to seek peace and comfort in nature’s protection. They will also represent unity as change does not stem from just one individual, but stems from a whole community coming together. The lives lost in the Stoneman Douglas tragedy will never be forgotten as the trees planted will continue to bring life and light to various communities; always providing support to those who may need something to lean on. We hope that these trees influence others to make the change they wish to see in their own community. “Branches of Bravery” aims to inspire all individuals to reflect upon the light that comes out of darkness. “They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds.”

WAVES OF HOPE

On May 18th, 2016 our hearts were eternally shattered when our beautiful Holly Ann Ambrosait decided to leave her body voluntarily following the untimely passing of her boyfriend Chris Louros. Just 9 months later on February 23rd, 2017 our worlds came crashing down around us again when we received even more devastating news that our beloved Lupe Isabelle Galluccio had also taken her own life.  The world lost two incredibly beautiful souls who were greater than life and the emptiness they left behind was catastrophic to those who loved them. Lupe Galluccio & Holly Ann Ambrosait, two young, beautiful, loving and talented girls with their whole lives ahead of them lost their battle with mental illness just months apart from each other and our lives would never be the same.
